An interesting read for sure. I'd love to see that same test applied to aluminum bars. I bet we'd be surprised.

I don't trust any bike part. I replace my bar every season. I did break a bar once. I've been pretty cautious about that ever since. You owe it to your face/jaws/teeth/sternum/brain.

You have a ritchey? I'm not riding with you anymore Lee

I thought it was an interesting article. Germans eh? Its so incredibly tech. Carbon seems like a good material, even for DH, it just has a reputation for being light and flimsy. I'd like to see a ton of popular bars tested like that (aluminum, steel, carbon) just to see how they stack up against each other for weight and strength.

I've been using an FSA Carbon DH bar on my DH bike for a while now. I'm 200lbs and not much of a hucker but something like the A-line rock drop or the Neds natural dorp to falt (just for reference) hasn't been a problem. Maybe I got one of the 'good' FSA bars. I think its a fairly pricey bar though
