WhistlerBike.com - New site/Map - New Trails

Props to the new website at Whistlerbike.com! It looks really slick. And major props to the new map with satellite image overlay! Finally! Sooo much better and more accurate--now you actually can tell where you're at on the mountain!! Only issue I see now is the numbers on the map don't correspond with the trail names in the key. (Says GLC drops are in the Garbo Zone and so on)

Looking at the satellite overlay got me thinking about some new lines up in Garbanzo... I made up a fun image with some concept lines in Purple, yellow and blue giving ideas of how all that terrain up there could be used if possible. Obviously it would be a lot of work to carve these trails, but man they'd be epic runs. Just some ideas since everyone is clamoring for some more flowy singletrack up on Garbo!

It's a big image so I didn't want to imbed in this message:

Thanks to the staff again for the new map.

Why so much legend?

I can understand a legend where the trails get crowded but I think the notion of a legend has become a matter of fact.

I think we should take a step back and think: "if there is room on the map, I will put the name of the trail on the map. Where the trails get crowded, I will revert to a legend."

Just a pet peave. Continue.

believe me, the trails are way to crowded to put trail names on top of them and at the scale we're working at it covers too much trail or clutters up the map too much. and you can't be labelling some and numbering others, there needs to be consistancy on the map.

Looks better. Thanks.

We are trying to setup the loonie and the main coordinator wants to use a bit of the mountain. Hard to recommend a good route when the map is off. haha

It's better when you have the orthophoto But at the end, I'm sure that GoogleEarth use the same source to have the orthopho.
What kind of software did you use to put the trails on the orthophoto? Did you use a GPS?
This new trail map gave me an idea and I have tried to do the same thing with the Mouliere Bike Park close to my place. The final result is not as good as this one but it's not too bad...
Thanks for the idea...
