My first gaming convention.
So, I went to a gaming convention on the weekend, in Hamilton.

I like the board game Settlers of Catan, and they were having the Canadian Championships there. My brother and 3 of his friends were going, so I went too.

It was actually pretty fun, at least the Settlers part. The winner of the tourney would get a seat at the Settlers world championship in Germany.

I was able to make it to the second day, to the semi finals. I got trounced, and didn't make it to the final table, so no trip to Germany for me!

The big, main room was really weird. (The Settlers tourney was in a smaller room down the hall). The room was full of people, but I think I only saw 3 women there. As soon as I walked in, I could smell dirty socks and unwashed armpits. The best attire I spotted was a guy wearing a kilt with a tucked-in Canada hockey jersey, pulling a wheeled suitcase around that I'm guessing contained his dice and miniatures.

They were selling 12 sided dice, 20 sided dice, war scenario games, and had all these weird roll playing games going on. They had a "Learn to play Dungeons and Dragons" seminar in the Settlers room. I could overhear guys talking about getting broadswords and the positives and negatives of different weapons packs. Odd.

Anyway, it was fun. At least all those people weren't sitting at home watching TV I guess.

Srsly tho, sounds like a fun convention - I've heard only good things about Settlers of Catan.
