i liked the old board much better..more laid back and better looking IMO...

but someone (i wont mention any names..mainly because i still dont know exactly who it was and i dont wanna look like a dork) had to go and ruin it...

I hate the new boards - all this 'treating each other with respect' and 'acting like adults' is like sooooo lame. I really liked it better when all the threads were full of people flaming each other and meaningless crap.

hahaha - I know. Believe me, we have been trying to nuke everything meaningless/inappropriate but it is hard to keep with on a daily basis.

One of our best tools is the 'REPORT THIS POST' option that any registered users may use to inform us of inappropriate threads/posts. There are 5-6 of you (not going to mention any names) using this option regularly; playing the role of pseudo-moderator - keep it up, it is working great and we really appreciate the help.

If any of you see a post/thread that you feel is inappropriate, it probably is - click the REPORT THIS POST button and voila! all the mods are emailed and we can wipe/investigate the thread/post.

I disagree. Perhaps the NBR forum is but I have found a lot of useful info on the other pages.

The NBR forum was set up so the people who wanted to socialize and talk about not biking related things would have a venue for it.

In terms of an internet community NSMB is pretty darn good. There are a lot of people who spend a lot of time here and I like wacky sense of humour I find in some of the posts on NBR.

Every community needs rules to keep it together though and I don't think the NSMB rules are too harsh at all.

We need to treat each other with respect otherwise the flames will burn high as people hide behind their computers. People will post things that they would never say face to face. Why can't people just post as if they were talking to each other in a living room at home or something?

Since this BB is open to people of all ages there are laws about what kind of material can be posted. This includes profanity and if people think they need to use profanity to make a point then perhaps they need to expand their vocabulary a little.

So was the old way more fun? In some ways yes. But the old BB died because it was not viable.

So IMHO the new board is better because it is sustainable, it's informative, it's entertaining and it's a cool place to hang out. On top of that I have met some pretty cool people because of NSMB and it gets me out riding more.
