huh??? has terminally weak sauce
Should I trade??? Pike 409 for 454

Hello
I have a 2007 Pike 409 with Coil spring and rebound, compression and Floodgate adjustment. I have been offered a trade for a 2006 Pike 454 with Dual Air. Well with the 409 I need to buy a stiffer spring. With the 454 I just have to pump it up. What I am worried about is the Strength? Is the dual Air weaker? Also I am 200 lbs, and ride aggressive. Small drops, nothing big but still, also DJ.

Do u think I should trade? How much extra money should I throw in for the trade since the dual air is worth more?

trade straight or add cash up the value of the replacement springs.

454 is probably the same strength, it has a hollow crown but that shouldn't matter too much if you aren't a thrasher. the dual air is just the guts, it won't affect strength.

take a look at the steerer material, if I'm right than the 409 has a steel spring whereas the 454 has an aluminum, for a heavier guy like you the 409 is probably a better bet

stick with the spring. If you thrash a fork, the dual air has more things that can go wrong.

Springs can theoretically take more pounding than an air fork IMO.

Are both forks new? How used is the 06? I'd stick the the newer fork.
