Question 05 888 VF - any good...?

I could have a 888VF for around 350 Euros...i know that the beauty cannot be set up externally besides the preload. i have ridden a junior t for ages...and the next time i could buy one would be next year summer.

what do you think...?

now the most question ever (probably): i have heard that the XT front hub with QR specs can be converted into one suitable for the needed 20mm axle. is that true? - thanx

I have one. It has worked fine for me and I have had no problems at all. Go for it.

I have one on my '05 A-Line, and I find that I can bottom it on some of my more hackish landings (stock springs and I weigh around 185). I have heard the same from other riders too. That said, aside from the sound, it doesn't appear to adversely affect anything.

The other thing you'll find is that the '05s are tall. You will have to lean a little farther forward than you might be used to if you want to really make the front tire bite in corners (especially noticable through bermed corners). I think drop crowns are next on my list of toys.

No external adjustability, which I'm sure you already know.

Bottom line, though: I love it. If you can get a good deal on one to upgrade your Jr. T, I would say go for it.

The fork feels really nice and plush but it was a tad on the soft side, for me at least. But its definately better than a Jr.T.

yea, the XT hub conversion thing? Nope. Cant be done. Its not that nobody has gotten around to making a kit or anything, its because the hub body is too small for a 20mm axle and bearings to fit in.
