silver star

We're gonna be up at Silver Star this weekend. Any good deals to be had for accomodations up there? We don't have brocards.

I heard they have a grocery store - true? Does it close at like 8pm the way lots of stuff does at small hills?

Is there anything to do up there when the lifts aren't turning?

Depending on all this, we may stay in Vernon. Thanks for any input!

When we stayed up there last year, they told us to be in a restaurant by 7pm or they just close if it's not busy. We were usually either the only ones, or just one other table in a restaurant. The village was really dead and had next to nothing to offer, keeping in mind we were up there at the end of biking season. Good bike shop though.

If we went again we'd definitely stay in Vernon unless things have changed at the hill.

Silver Star is quite small and in the summer its even smaller. The riding is awesome, but if your looking for any sort of nightlife, staying in Vernon would be a smart move.

Stay in Kelowna! It's about a bit over an hour drive to Silverstar, with a LOT more to do in the evenings

made a reservation on the hill, its almost the same price as Vernon/Kelowna and no extra driving involved.

I'll keep an eye on the restaurant times and prolly stock up on basic groceries on the way.

Thanks!

You will definitely be hard pressed to have anything to do when the hill closes. I was also under the impression it closed early, like 5 pm, not 7 or 8. I hit it up on opening day and the riding was not bad once I found the black runs. Everything else was pretty simple (avoid Pooh Corner like the plague; I used it as a warm up run and almost left the hill... they called it a blue).

Stay in Vernon and go to Monashee's... about the only decent place there these days I believe.

Lifts close at 5??? that's fine get blind drunk, so you're out by 10 or so... then you'll be fine to rip it up in the morning.
