Is my DHX 3.0 Screwed?

A couple of weeks ago I was out riding and I lost the metal valve cover off my shock. I tested the pressure just to make sure it was good (I tested 160psi) and then threw a plastic cap on in the meantime.

Today I was out riding and the rear end felt real mushy and I asked my buddy to hop on. He agreed so we tested the pressure and it measured out at zero psi. We pumped it back up to 160psi but how do I tell if it needs to be rebuilt?

Thanks for any advice.

If it loses pressure as you described. It needs a rebuild. Thats a warrenty issue. Just make sure you find a metal cap before you send it in so things are all tight nice.

perhaps its just the core is lose..

try to tighen the small air valve core up.. to test if its leakign spit into the end of the air fitting or apply a drop of water..

if its leaking a air bubble will form...

your shock def shouldnt leak air at a noctiable rate..

my 03 Vanilla DH didnt lose any air over the entire Winter when my Demo was parked for teh off season, while i rode my HT.

Yah, if it is less than 75 psi, and you go for a ride, then your shock is done. You should have not put a different cap on, because if could have touched the air release, so thats how you wouldv'e lost your air pressure.

Well, I went down to the Surrey Bike Zone and the guys there checked out the shock and said everything looks to be okay and felt good to them. So, I guess I dodged a bullit on that one.
