05 boxxer ride spring question
wanting to stiffen up this fork, so we planned on buying and installing stiffer springs.
Problem one: online manual and printed manual are differnt in their descriptions of spring color/rider wieght ranges. Problem two: what the hell colour is the spring in the attached photo? The bike is supposed to come stock with Red (according to the online manual) or Yellow/Red according to the paper manual. That spring doesn't seem to fit either of those descriptions. Annoyng thing is - according to both data sources, the 'standard' spring is probably the rioght one for the rider's weight. If it turns out the spring in there is a much lighter spring and not the 'standard' one, do you think I should attempt to get the correct spring from the vendor, or just suck it up and buy a new one? Freakishly fast service: good manual included:
From: Todd Quednau [mailto:tquednau@sram.com] Sent: Thursday, May 11, 2006 1:03 PM To: Steve Subject: RE: 05 boxxer ride question. Dear Steve, The spring guide you found online, which is the second one listed in your email, is the correct chart. From the picture you sent your spring appears to be the standard red spring. The following link will give you detailed instructions on how to service the spring on your boxxer http://www.sram.com/_media/techdocs/...urnService.pdf. If the link fails this information can be found on a website by following the service link at the bottom of the main page at sram.com. Once in the service page there will be a drop down box for rockshox and choose boxxer. There you can choose which boxxer you have and that will give you all the information needed to service your fork. One thing to note, Boxxer u-turn springs are sold as one assembly with the top end, spring and the shaft at the bottom. The spring itself should not be disasembled from the top piece or shaft at the bottom. Once again thanks for Contacting SRAM.
