DHX Air - Hey Vancouver LBS's
Where can I buy one? My LBS says Fox in Canada has no stock and isn't expecting shipment in the next month, and of that shipment manufacturers get first pick, anything left is for retail sales.
When I can get one from a US online shop for cheaper (which wasn't the issue) and at my door within a week, will some of you bike shop guys that despise the online shops tell me why I should support the Canadian LBS's. They can't even tell me when I can get a shock, maybe in a month.

Have you guys both used these online retailers before?
I've used pricepoint and jenson with success. Both have shipped quickly and I haven't got stung with any brokerage fees. I don't like Ebay for anything over a minor purchase. I'm far too paranoid of getting ripped off. Picking up stateside is not an option for me. George Bush thinks I'm a thread to national security because I got caught with a trace of narcotics in Canada 16 years ago. Aside from finding decent online retailers, this post was a looking for some reaction from the local bike shop guys that slam online retailers.

doh, forgot about universal...ive used them too and never had a bad experience. ride-this is semi-new and, while I have never used them, a few friends have and say they are trustworthy.
Dave, I don't know the next time I am coming up - need to get the car registered in WA before coming back up...got into a fight with a border guard coming back into my own fucking country and he said that he is taking note that the car is not registered in WA and wont be allowed either way til that is taken care of....asshat... anyways, if you wanted, you could have it shipped to me and I could bring it up for yah when we do make it up next....just a thought. |

What work would you need done on a new shock? Concerned about warentee work? LBS won't be the problem - the problem will be the service centre in Alberta (don't know if they'll do work on a non-cnd purchased item). If that's the case then you'd have to get it to a US shop to ship it to Fox in the US.

I could pay Push to rebuild the thing if necessary and still come out $$ ahead. So here's a call out to Canadian LBS's. I want a Fox DHX Air shock, 7.875 X 2.25. I don't want a bro deal, pro deal or any deal you wouldn't give me walking in off the street. Give me price and when I could have it in my hands. Convince me not to buy online. Post in this thread. Note: I realize this isn't the fault of the LBS, but rather the distributor. But if you don't want people to shop online, you better start pressuring the distributor network.

cyclewerks in edmonton will still service them. but it's only $50 for a rebuild (not including new seals) so it's not expensive if its out of warranty. like dave said, you still come out ahead.

I've bought from Universal in person with no problem, they are in Portland near the airport. I just had a similar situation with a Ortlieb waterproof camera bag. Canadian distributor had no stock and didn't know when they would be getting any. The US distributor isn't allowed to ship to Cdn addresses. Luckily there are US package recieving companies so I could pick it up it up across the line. |

US doesn't accept Cnd pardons (i.e. once they know about it they don't remove it). That said, if you commit a crime in Canada, apply for a pardon before ever going to the US, then once pardoned you can go to the US without them learning of your crime.

Let's stick to the DHX please. I'm well researched in my immigration problems.
Hijacking threads is just for Synchro and myself. At least we involve a reference to some kind of pornography when we do.

My faith has been restored. My LBS begged, bartered, and jumped through hoops and the distributor says "a shipment just arrived". I'll have it in a couple of days. I'm paying a very small bit more than online, but they've earned my business.
