Riding in Prince Rupert

Do anyone know any good trails in Prince rupert which are easily to access?

My buddy is in the Navy and they are docking there sometime in the next little while (not sure when) and there are a bunch of them that want to ride but want an idea where to look first.

thanks

Hey!!! I live in Rupert!

Our trail scene pretty much sucks. There is a bunch of "north shore" style trails out on the highway, but those haven't been touched by anybody in awhile. Everybody is riding BMX and this street shit now; I myself am a trials guy.

Rupert is pretty boring right now

Well I wouldn't ride a trail that was on a highway either. Sounds pretty risky if you ask me.

I meant you have to ride like 18mintues out on the highway to get to the entrance to the trails.

I grew up in Rupert and haven't been back there in 8 or so years but I will be going for a visit to work on my sisters house in August and am going to bring my hardtail and do some good old truban riding that Rupert is kick ass for. A good loop of McClymont to to waterfront to Cowpuccinnos to the waterfront again then to Moresby then campground for some tooling around on the logs and then through the projects jumping stairs and drunks, it is going to be a fun time again in the Old Roop. When August gets closer I will post again so all you rupertites can wipe the dust off your bikes and we will do some good old Truban ripping (Trails and Urban mixed).

what about MT. Hays or what ever it is called. Where the gondolla is? That would be a good place for some trails.

There are some cool trails up the road in Terrace.

jro: McClymont is soo ol'school, good memories riding that trail back in the days of my Norco Jammer. I also remember when being able to ride down the McClymont stairs was a huge deal

The gondola was burnt down awhile ago, haha. Mt. Hayes rode is fun, but it's a bitch to walk up all the way.

Talking re: riding in P.Rupert

yo,

rupert sucks for riding...Terrace (130km. East of Rupert), and Smithers (300km. E of Rupert) are way better.

However, Rupert:
(1) Mt Hayes, not bad for about 1hr. ride. hard to find the one and only trail...talk to the guys at Farwest Sports in Rupert...they'll know some groms who can show you what's up. Trail is steep, few drops, etc...an out-and-back.

(2) Also there is not a bad skinnies/coaster/teeter/drops park setup about 8km. east of town on the south side of the highway, up the trail to a heli-pad...forget what it's called...go to Farwest Sports again.

I tried to build some trails when i lived there, but it's so damn wet i just gave up.

Go to Terrace and ride Copper Mtn. if you can, it's rad.

M.
