my freind is moving to hastings...
his school is some film school in west hastings but his house is on broadway... he has never been there before.... any tips on places to stay away from and bars to go to and shit to do?


i hope he doesn't get killed

East Hastings isnt even that bad as long as you respect the people there. Its like the the druggies will rob you in a second to get their fix. Most them you could shake in one hand because they are so sickly. Your just as likely to get jumped in the suburbs. Just be careful of Veitnamese and Skinhead gangs, if you piss them off they probably will kill you, but that just requires common sense to avoid.

I know a guy who locked his keys in his car on hastings st. He said he was trying to break in and a whole bunch of druggies came over and tryed to help him break in . Ive walked up through the area before because we were at hastings foundry and we didnt wanna lose our parking spot. We were hungry and we knew there was a Mcdonalds just up the street, man, I was scared hahaaha, some of the weirdest shit ive ever seen.

West Hastings is like one of the most expensive areas in DT... East Hastings is sketchy, if you dont know big city life.

Personally I think Commercial/Broadway can be a bit sketchier than E.Hastings. Last time i was there a guy in a trench coat threw a full slurpee at me. There was a business woman beside me and she booked it across the street. I didnt know what to do so i just calmly waited for the walk signal and got onto the skytrain.
