broken U-turn knob

So my U-turn knob cracked and is useless. Guess what, a new one costs
$70. WTF? Has anyone made a home made one? Right now all I can do is use a socket wrench to wind it up or down.

It's brutal. Even 1/2 of that is the too much. It's just plastic.
I did check on line and there are some american websites selling it for 13-$16 which is more like it. How can there be such a difference? Brutal

I think the worst case of that was "Marzocchi" bar shims (31.8-25.4) in the Norco catalog a year or 2 back for 88, that's right eighty-eight dollars.
