New civic SI. pretty close to the same speed. Will be much more reliable and cheaper.Plus wont have to deal with shittyness of VW dealers. The VW may have a slightly nicer feel when new.. but will depreciate faster as well.

yeah...no... not really... the 2.0T will be in around the league of the Si but still faster, remember that thing is a Honda and therefore has 0 torque and no turbo.

The VR should be the new punched out version and basicly the R32 motor in the new car so yeah, thats a bit over the Si's head right there...

Although the Bloody VW looks like an Si from years past... I belive next year will be the year they bring out the R36... should be pretty freakin AWSOME... the mock ups look amazing. Google it and you'll see what I mean.

Well.. not all your info is correct.

The si has 198hp i think while the gti has 200.

the vw is slightly faster, not much. with the price of the honda, you could put in a turbo and still end up cheaper. Youd have a faster car too if thats what you are concerned about.

God Damn... That r36 is pretty. I want one. The only down side to the newer golfs is they are a little fat these days. When compared to the older ones. But with safety, comes lbs. The r36 is all wheel drive? If it is. It's going to be a rocket. I hope it is allwheel drive. Front wheel drive sucks if you want to go fast.

yeah, but the GTI also has almost 280nM/torque

while the civic has 137.... and a turbo kit

then theres the fact that the GTI makes its power at like 5000rpm

and the honda makes its at like 7000 or something stupid like that.

Yeah you will have to drive these cars differently believe it or not. VTEC is actually alot of fun to drive if you keep the revs up. Just ask anyone with an s2000. I dont want my engine to run out of breath at 6k.

I really like the look of the gti. It looks really sharp, kind of like the previous gen si.

The VW is about 200+lbs heavier
Probally cost about $5000-7000 more. (hell car and driver had the gti msrp at $29000US. nobody in their right mind will pay that. That getting close to sti territory.
the vw doesnt even have a lsd.

If your actually going to drive the car hard. The Si is a much better deal. Alot of people just dont like hondas because the crowd accosiated with them. Do you really think stretched tires and 17inch bbs rims on a 100hp mk2 is much better?

VW is going down the shitter right now IMO. len hunt is gone and things are going to fall apart. They are just not building the right cars for the market and their dealership network is horrible.

Well, there isn't a VR6 Mk5 other than the R32/36 yet is there? The GTi and GLi have shifted upmarket anyways, the Si and GLi/GTi aren't really boy racer type material anymore and have moved into more the lowend sports luxury catagory. Take a look at the Polo GTi Twincharger in Europe which is more in competition with the Si or if you really want a pocket rocket, get a Mk2 16v or 12vVR6 conversion
