Aren't steel frames thinner than aluminum ones? Wouldn't that make it easier to dent?

I think that in general, alumium tubes are larger diam but thinner than steel, and thus Al dents easier.

I would not worrie to much about the dents.
I have a nice couple now on my bike and I look fondly and remember when and where it happend. it means 2 things both are good 1. your out riding your bike 2. your riding the bike the way it was meant to be. |

I have had.. a huge dent on my hardtail frame... it was literally HUGE its 04 azonic evolution 2 frame.. down tube is monoque or w/e tubing and it coves up the whole headtube height and had dual crown.. and i slipped off of nicole's pole on rainy day.. and bam. dent .. was about 2 to 3 inches.. where fork bumpers hit was deeper.

dents add character to your bike...as long as they arent strucural dents i wouldnt be worried..
think of em as battle damage/scars... 8-) |

i know of atleast 3 dents in my frame. stupid rocks hitting my downtube. They've been there for atleast a season and a half so i'm not worring. Its definatly pain in the ass having dents in your frame though.

Saw a brilliant idea on the internet for your downtube to prevent dents, get some flexible rubber about 2mm thick and stickback plastic it to bottom braket area and hey presto dent protection. Not sure how well it would work but sounds pretty much fool proof. But i personally hate dents.
