My Curiouscycle.
Frame: supersecret frame. Anyone recognize it?
Fork: Marzocchi Dirt Jam (OEM) uppers and internals, with old DJ3 lowers because the jams don't have 20mm lowers. Cranks: Block 8. Pedals: Cielinsky (spelled right?) Wheels: XY/some crappy hub made SS (back), DM24/formula (front). I'm waiting on bearings for my DM24/Spot (back) wheel. Tyres: Krads (2.3, sorry Mark) Seat: cheap SDG Post: KALLOY (I'm a high roller) Lever: XTR Brake: XTR (I may at some point put a front brake back on as well) Stem: some really light forged Bontrager stem. Bar: Bontrager Crowbar (the heavy version) Things I like about it: Since I built this frame up, I've learned a ton of stuff. Apparently the Balfa WAS holding me back... Or maybe I just randomly started sucking less. So yeah, the frame seems to have really good angles, although I'd like maybe a slightly longer toptube and a slightly shorter rear end. The brakes. My brakes never worked on my Balfa, so it's cool to have brakes again. Also, the oddysey cable is like, really nice. The fork. It's cheap, and rigid, and it doesn't top out like crazy, like EVERY OTHER Dirt Jam fork I've felt. Things I dislike about it: The cranks. They're heavy. Bombproof, but heavy. Anyone want a set of Block8 cranks? Prettymuch weight in general. I'd like to get some lighter bars with the same angles (any ideas?), a lighter seat/seatpost combo, maybe the smaller Krads, and it would be nice if the frame was a pound or so lighter. The problem is, I can't be bothered to buy new stuff till I ruin old stuff, which seems to take a long long damn time (I don't ride very hard), so I dunno. Anyone want the bars or cranks? |

its definitley an 05 250
1.the gusset on the down tube 2.the general look of the geometry 3.the white block halfway up the downtube 4.the black badge means its 04 or newer 5. the rounded rear dropouts and non smooth tube going to the drop outs from the stays Last edited by M_Dub; 10-15-2005 at 03:34 AM. |

My complete out-of-the-blue guess is that it's a 24-7 Darkangel v.01. #081 to be made, to be precise, with the headbadge from a Norco 4by that happened to be sitting on a really, really cool guy's bike workbench.
-Mark Edit: I'm also guessing that the white block on the downtube is a sticker that says "Sven Robinson steals, SO SHOULD YOU!" and that there aren't any grindguards on it. PS: I bet whoever gave you that frame for free is really cool, and handsome. PPS: I think you learning new stuff probably has at least as much to do with you living in a new place and being motivated to ride a lot as it has to do with the bike. Though your balfa did feel like a complete pile of shit. PPPS: Do you still have my brake lever? I'm hoping so, or else it got left at Atomic, and I'm probably out one XTR lever. Shit.
