medium demo 9

Anyone out there around 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 8 that rides a medium demo 9. I found a killer deal on a new 2004 at a local shop but I haven't had a chance to sit on it yet. I know frame size has a lot to do with preference but for anyone 5 6 to 5 8 that has a medium if you can let me know how it fits. BTW I ride a small big hit dh right now, and a small 243 both fit well. I can't go to the shop till tuesday so I'm trying to get some info now.

Wow im am the perfect guy to answer your question, im in the 57 -58 range and road a medium demo 9 for two seasons, but it was stolen in august. anywhoo it fit me pretty well, at first I ran it with the stock 888 integrated stem, which is like 65 mm and i thought it was to long for me, but i switched to go rides switch crown with a 40mm length and the size was perfect. A small or medium would probably be fine for you, a medium will feel bigger than your two smalls and it will take a little getting used too. But run a short stem and you should be good. Basically at our height most smalls are kinda tight, and mediums can be kinda long. but i would say go for it.

im about 5 7 and im riding a medium demo 8 and have stepped over medium and large demo 9s. Personally It feels fine, I wouldnt mind abit more standover, but all that aside I'm super happy with my demos size (it has a 66rc on the front) and the tt length is fine. Maybe I would go for a small if I had to do it all over again, but I dont think it makes that huge of a difference. Before the demo i used to ride a medium bighit.

The only difference is top tube length, or more importantly BB to bar length. Standover is the same between the small and medium. The front centre is long on those bikes though, even with the short chainstays you'll still be looking at a long wheelbase with a small.

I'm 5'9 and ride a small 9.

I get to sit on the bike and ride it around by next week. Thing is the bike is an 04 so I can actually get this complete bike for a good amount cheaper than the msrp on the specialized site for a demo 9 frame alone. I'm not one to just buy something if the price fits I'm going to have this bike for a few years and I reallllllly dont want to get something that I'm going to struggle riding.

Apart from the shock, I guess it's got a six way Swinger, it's identical to the 06 frame.

ride it first. Medium Demos are realllll long. Im almost 5'10" and I ride a small. I like smaller bikes, but I wouldnt want it any longer. All the guys I ride with agree too. Demos are hard enough to handle as they are.

give it a shot, just keep it in mind.

Ok so I got to pedal around a medium demo9 today. The bike felt fine, nice fairly low standover and I was NOT stretched out. The stem was a bit long so I would replace that with the go-ride one and the 888 was pretty tall so I would either switch it out or get the go-ride lower crowns. I think it may work. Also I will probaly ditch the ridiculously heavy tires right away for a set of high rollers (also heavy but w/e) maybe stans tubeless idk.

I'm 6-1 and the medium is good for me. Like the others said the only diff is the TT length, so really depends on the sort of cockpit you like - you might find the medium a little stretched if you prefer a tighter feel.

Take the $deal$ factor out of the equation and I think you'd be on a small.

Well for the price I'm paying if I truly can't stand the bike I could probably sell it for what, if not more than I paid. Although thats not something I really want to do but its not the end of the world if it really doesn't work out for me.

I might be selling my small soon. It'd cost you less than that one, it has the 6way and it's in real solid shape. If you're interested, PM me.
