04 Super T Pro Clicking
Hello all, I have a 04 Super T pro that has a clicking noise coming from (I think) the left leg. A two-tone click occurrs when travel changes from compression to rebound and it happens all the time, no matter if it is deep in travel or if you are off the bike and just push down with your hand. I have checked all fasteners on the whole bike (an 02 Bullit) and have isolated the noise to the fork leg. BTW it is a pretty new fork and has not ben through any major wrecks. If I can't get rid of the click, is it possible to put another HSCV cartridge in the left leg? If so, where could I order parts from? Thanks

Sounds like something in that leg might have rattled loose. A rebuild may be in need...

If not spring slop then I can help you out with what the noises are:
Faint rattling/scraping: This is the springs moving inside the legs, if it happenes at the top of the travel, then add a little pre-load. YOu can't get rid of this noise. Light clicking when the fork starts to rebound: This is something in the PoSSV leg (non adjustable). There is a small float valve to add speed sensitive resistance, when the fork travel changes direction, the valve re-seats causing a small click. Continuous rattling during normal use:This is something that I queried marzocchi techs about directly. There is a small amount of play between the top cap and the internal rod. The issue can be resolved by putting some thin shimm washers underneath the c-clip that holds the rod against the top cap. It's a bugger to do, but works like a charm. high stiction and/or Rasping or buzzing sound on rebound: This is a problem I had over the weekend, when my weight was back, the fork would make a buzzing sound, almost honking! Turns out, the fork had been misaligned during a heavy bottom out. Make sure the lower crown bolts are all tight, then loosen the axle and the three top plate screws, cycle the fork through it's travel, then incrementally tighten all the screws. It should feel plusher when you are done. |

rebuild the fork, tighten her up and see what happens.
And if it is springs moving in fork, there are these sleeves that fit over the spring in and you put them towards the top, makes them wider and quiter. I have 1970s yamaha moto springs in my 05 drop off triple with the sleeves on it, rebuilt the fork, added mucho 10wt oil so it hydralocks near the bottom of the suspension making bottoming metal to metal virtualy impossible. The springs are progressivly wound and are sick. (thanks atb for the work on the fork) no more noises and weard stuff for me.
