Whistler with no time

I could have placed this question in the Whistler for Virgins thread but didn't want it to get missed. I'm heading to Toronto on business in June and will have a 2 night stop off on the way home. I could stop in LA but that's boring.

I was thinking I could fly to Van. I'd fly out of TO Thursday afternoon and stay in Vancouver that night, then Friday morning hire a care, drive to Whistler and ride for the day. I then stay the night a Whistler and drive back to Van Saturday arvo to fly home.

This means I'd really only have the Friday to ride Whistler - after driving up.

So, here's my question. Is it worth doing or will it be more trouble than it's worth? I absolutely can't stay any longer than that. If I could I'd stay a week and check out Fromme but I don't have any flexibility...

any thoughts would be a huge help.

Do it.

Also, look in to the bus lines or your Whistler hotel may run a shuttle service to/from the airport.

If your in a crunch for time Id skip the whitler trip and rent a bike at the cove and ride the piss out of the north shore for 2 days. more riding and less screwing around.

This man has a good point. That ends up being a lot of driving for ~6 hrs of riding. You could ride Fromme on the Friday & maybe even sneak in a couple shuttles on Seymour on the Saturday.

Make sure you buy an Insurance policy before you ride either place though dude. The carnage suffered by tourists is pretty epic each summer.

I have been considering doing just that - to be honest, I've always wanted to ride the real shore. But, at Whistler, everything is there. I can jump on a chairlift and ride to the top then ride down again. If I ride the Shore, I may or may not be able to hook up with other riders/a shuttle etc. Might blow 2 days for a couple of runs...

Hm. If you really only have one day to ride, you might be better off to go to Whistler. But if you can ride Saturday, you should try to hit the shore. You could still go to Whistler on the Friday, drive back the same day & get a couple laps in on Seymour on Sat.

You'd sleep really, really well on the plane. That's for sure.

Shore you need a guide. Whistler- although far more pricey- can be conquered solo. Plus, the experience will be worth it. What's a bit or driving when you have a plane to sleep on?

You both make good points. I'd love to ride both if possible. Might be tough to fit it all in, but prolly worth it. I'm not too worried about the dollars - just wanna come ride if possible.

hey Brett - if it comes off I'll definitely drop you a line - be good to hook up with somebody there. After a summer of riding Buller, I'm looking forward to hitting a hill with more variety.

If I go it'll be around 3rd or 4th or June. You be there?
