thinkin back to the old BBS days...
Who remembers these little fun things from before the net exploded onto the scene and stole the thunder?
Who used to run one? What was your alias? Castles, DCTC, Flatlinerz - any of those ring a bell?

How about dialling into the BCtel computer using a 300 baud acoustic modem and playing Adventure.
"You're in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike" While playing one day, I got a message on my screen from one of the programmers at BCtel, asking me how the hell I got past the dragon. That was a looong time ago. |

I remember dialing into my library to reserve books on my 9600 baud modem. That was pretty neat.

first modem on my parents computer was a 14.4
I remember in 1995 I used a BBS type service at my school. christ, I'm only 19..but that DOES make me feel old. 10 years ago..what a novel concept the internet seemed. |

I was a UNIX administrator at the first BBS in calgary (logical solutions) back in the late 80's, early 90's when the original internet infrastructure was being developed. all DOS based browsing (lynx), limited messaging, and usenet groups. I remember when windows 1.1 or whatever it was (before 3.1) came on the scene and some peeps started telneting in the GUI, then came the first mozzila netscape browser.
