Hayes 8" adaptor

I have an 8" Hayes adaptor for my 20 mm Marzocchi Jr T. Will this work with a Marzocchi fork with 9 mm dropouts?

You can use a 9mm version on a 20mm fork with the aide of spacers, but you cannot use a 20mm adapter on a standard dropout fork because the 20mm adapter is too "thick".

But I looked on the Hayes parts catalog and they don't list a 9mm 8" adaptor - only a 20 mm version. And the few bike shops I called said it's because Hayes doesn't recommend using 8" on 9mm axels.

So what does that mean? If this is true, why does Specialized install 8" rotors on several of their Big Hit bikes with 9 mm axels?

There definitely is a standard dropout 8" rotor adapter. I have one.

8" rotor on a standard dropout (9mm) can cause problems as the axle needs to be stronger.
