Steer tube question.
How much should I cut off? just below the stem? just above the stem?

i would leave a little extra incase you want to add spacers or something later. maybe like 5-10mm.

Leave as much above the stem as you feel comfortable with. 10mm isn't that much. Allot of people are tryin to get their front ends so low that they are running no spacers at all below the stem. Doing this and cutting the tube lower than the stem means you can't use a headset with a bigger stack height down the road and you can't use a stem that has a taller clamp on the steer tube. Well maybe you could but it would be cutting it close.
Hope that makes sense. |

OR you can stack spacers ON-TOP of the stem and cover it all with a roach pad.
that gets yer bars/stem as low as you want and you don't need to cut the steerer tube so it will be easier to sell the fork if you want to down the road even if you just buy a new stem later you could get messed up cuz they are not all the same height |

use one spacer. Put the fork on the bike, put the stem on with no spacers, measure, cut and then add the spacer at the bottom and it will be perfect.
