Nevegal problem

I just bought a Kenda Nevegal and when mounting it on my rim the steal bead tore free of the tire. I was wondering how many others has this happened to, and did you have any problems warrentying it?

I've bought 4 or 5 of those tires, and not had a problem. I rode a Nevegal a lot over a period of 9 months before replacing it. The was still tread left, but I got a very good deal on a new tire and decided to go with new tread for the winter.

How do you screw up mounting a tire? I believe it was faulty, the steel wires were not in the center of the bead. Not much coverage of rubber over the steel wires.

Then take the tire back. I've seen a Nevegal that was fairly warped, so I wouldn't doubt that you have a faulty tire.

did you notice this before you started to mount the tire?

because if you saw this after its probably because you tried real hard to get it on with out enough tire pryer things and it wore out that area.

if it was a defect, take it back and hopefully you get to return it

I try not to use tire levers for mounting tires. If you give the two handed strong grip a try, you can do it without levers, thereby alleviating the chance of wrecking the bead or puncturing the tube.

It's all about quality control...

My feeling is that Kenda isn't quite there yet

I'm amazed you can get user error over warranty from what he posted. You are most perceptive. What is your secret?

I try not to use levers cause its too easey to pinch the tube. I fought that tire on most of the way then used one lever in one spot in the end. Pumped up the tire to find out I pinch the tube so off it came.
The second time I mounted it I didn't use any levers at all. It was a bitch, took a while and hurt my fingers. This time I pumped up the tire alls good then (about 30 psi) pop the bead let go. Now I'm pissed.

Jeez!

go easy on the guy!

Ive seen the bead on $4000 front end loader tires fail on installation.Shit happens during production........life goes on.

Dug,just take it back to your lbs and they should hook you up with a good tire and return the defect to the supplier.

I've seen that happen on a Navegal as well. Steel bead just ripped right off during normal installation.

Not saying that 2 tires equals lousy quality control at Kenda by any means, just that I believe this guys story.

A nice shop should be able to get the tire replaced for you, almost no question asked.

mass production leads to some problems, and it happens, the difference between a good company and a bad one isnt solely at the quality of some defected items, but how the customer service covers it.
