Truck. At least right now.

My clutch just went. fookin thing. I'm just posting this as I'm sitting here an hour after work has ended basically, waiting for my ride.

If you're mechanically inclined, unlike myself, the clutch pedal sits at the floor with no inclination of engagement. Its a hydraulic clutch, 96 Sierra 4.3l. I wont be fixing this as of yet so if anyone has idea's, post them up. I talked to a few places - dealership phone dude quoted me 1600 freakin bones to fix it at the most, but that depends if it is the clutch as it could be a slave cylinder or some other shiat. Lordco quote for the clutch itself was $430.

Best of all, my freakin birthday is tomorrow **shakes fist at the skies above**. So not only this, my license expired, insurance is up at the end of the month...

anybody wanna buy a nicely decked out big hit ...for say I dunno, 2500?

That sucks, hope you can get it fixed for not too much... Also, that doesn't sound like a problem with the clutch itself, I'd say it's something in the hydraulic system.

I was thinking and hoping that - the fluid level wasnt exactly full so I'm hoping its just a small slave cylinder or along those lines.

But I've also known my clutch wasnt in the best of shape for a while now.

Time will tell.

Look in the engine compartment for the hydraulic clutch resevoir. Directly under this is probably the master clutch cylinder and down the line from that is the slave cylinder, hopefully it's on the side of the transmission and not inside. Check these for leaks. If you see hydraulic fluid then you need to change whatever's leaking.

If the clutch felt like it was slipping in the last few days or weeks, then you most likely need to replace the clutch.

Trout - is there a difference between what felt like the pedal slipping (not my boot/foot) and not the clutch?

In the last few days, the clutch pedal itself would sorta have a little "pop" to it after i released it. Can I bleed a clutch

If the fluid was low you may just have air in the system. Go out and pump the clutch while keeping the fluid topped up and it should self bleed, These things are an open system kinda deal like a hope brake.

So here's the deal though, the clutch is dead basically. So just add fluid.. or is that waaaay to optimisic?

Add fluid and pump the pedal, bubbles will float up if there is air in the sytem and the fluid level will drop. Keep toppping up the fluid or you'll just pump more air into the system.

Look for leaking fluid if it was low, the stuff doesn't reallt just disappear.

I took another quick glance with the flashlight and couldnt see a trace of any fluids at all <sniff sniff>

Ok that probably didnt' make you feel better, but the fact that I'm only minutes away from having my balls non-surgically removed might.

Sell the truck. Keeps you in bikes/Snowboards for a while cuz of all the money you saved. You could buy a nice commuting bike to reward yourself.
