Unhappy Burning DVD's with Nero...

None of mine will play in my dvd player, and most won't even play on my computer.

Where am I going wrong? Which option whould I choose (DVD-Rom (ISO), DVD-Video, DVD-Rom (UDF), or DVD-Rom (UDF/ISO)?

I have a feeling its DVD-Video, but it won't let me drag and drop and movies into the folder when I use that option. Maybe I need to convert the file types some how? If so, how would I go about doing that?

Thanks in advance.

p.s. I'm using DVD+R's, which I am assured is what I need for my HP burner.

DVD movies are stored on a DVD via a file system. The files are kept in a folder called VIDEO_TS. The video is stored in MP2 format, and the audio is stored in MP3 and/or PCM format. The data files have a .VOB extension, and the information files are stored with IFO extensions. You can rip the VOB files into other formats, and you can edit the IFO files with a program like IFOEdit.

You need Nero Vision to create a video (movie) DVD.

What's the source format of your video? The file type (extension)?

your saying Nero Burning Rom won't work? You can select CD, or DVD, then there are a bunch of options for both.

My DVD movies are all taken off of the net, and have all kinds of strange extensions, none of which are MP2 (I think). So what program can I get that will convert them to MP2?

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: OK, all of the video seem to be "Nero ShowTime Files", which is pissing me off. Nero is dumb sometimes...

Does anyone know how I would go about uninstalling Nero CD burner, but not DVD burner? Thanks.

DVDs are just a medium, like a CD, hard disk, or floppy drive. Your machine can read DVDs/CDs that contain data because your operating system has a CD file system driver (CDFS).

So Nero lets you copy stuff to and from CDs and DVDs.

What you need to be concerned about is how you store the data on the DVD, and how you want to read (or playback) the data.

I'll give you an example. I have a MiniDV camcorder. Stuff that I tape can be transfered from the tape to my computer. The data is stored in an AVI format. Many programs will play back the AVI format; programs such as Windows Media Player. I could copy the AVI to a DVD for storage, or for playback on my computer. But the AVI on the DVD will not play on my home theatre's DVD player. That's because the home theatre's DVD player doesn't understand AVIs (well, one of the reasons). If I wanted to make a DVD to play back the camcorder video on my home theatre DVD player, I'd need to burn a video CD/DVD. Part of that "burn" would be the conversion of the AVI into a data format that the home theatre DVD understands.

If you want to make a DVD that you can play on your home theatre DVD player, use Nero to create a DVD Video.

NeroVision will let you take files of various video formats and burn them onto a DVD that can be played back.

What the file extension of the video files? I can check if NeroVision will do it for you.

They all seem to be .avi. I'm 99% Nero vision will convert them.

Please check your PM's Switch
