Adaptor for 2000 Z1 QR20
Hey guys, I have a question about the adaptors for the 2000 z1's. I'm looking to getting at least a disc brake in the front and I've got a good deal on one at an LBS but the problem is, they don't have a clue about the adaptor that I have on my fork and if they could even order another adaptor for it. I bought the fork used and it came with the adaptor that it has. It doesn't quite fit the conventional mech brakes. So I was wondering if anyone that had this fork knew a bit about it as well.
Thanks. Oh yeah, the brake I'm looking to get is a Hayes MX2

OK so I've been searching the internet for a pic of dave's fork and I can't find it. I'll describe it. It a Marzocchi, with the original CNC arch. It's 5" in travel, and it's silver. It has a disc brake adapter on the left side, and it's black. It ihas been attached to the fork lowers. I know that this fork exists! I have seen it before, on other rigs, with disc brakes.
Dave needs your help y'all!!! |

Yup, the adapters do exist. You need two actually.
The Marz one that bolts to the fork leg with a little backing plate on the inside of the fork leg. the second is a hayes or whatever brake company one that bolts from the Marz adaptor to the caliper body. Hayes won't list them but Marz should. They are not that common anymore as the brake mounts are integrated with the lowers now. Edmonds Cycle in Burnaby I know has them. Ian |

Well, I'll come over and you canhave a look. I'm sure it's international standard, if that's what Hayes uses.

Huh...? I had the same fork and it required two. They bolted together. Ran both a 6" and 8" hayes setups. Kept the Marz adaptor and had to switch the hayes one but still ran two.
If there is a one peice unit that sounds better than two. Jump on it. less to come loose. if that does not work out I also remeber seeing two different thicknesses of the Marz one. I think it placed the caliper at a different distance from the wheel back when there wasn't as much standardization (sp?). Be sure to try it on your bike before you buy it. |

I will...besides, I'll have to check with Blaine and see if the one that he has will work first. Free is always better.

I've had that thing floating around my toolbox for a few years now. I paid some ungodly amount of money for it when I needed it. Now even though I'll never use it again, for some reason I just can't let it go.

Sweet. That's the same thing I was refering to... Don't you still need a second adapter though?
To connect what's in davet's pic to the caliper? Confused... |
