Do mountain bikes belong in Skateparks?
No!. I am a Rider, I am a skateboarder, and i can tell you without a doubt the mountain bikes do not belong in skateparks. The lines and flow ofa skatepark is designed for a little wooden board with four little polyurethane wheels, and that little wooden thing with those little wheels is designed for that park. now these big two wheeld softy things are designed for those big muddy rocky things that were created by the continental shift or glaciation. Mountain bikes are for the mountain. i hate all this new school street shit, the street is not a mountain, pegs do not belong on a suspended bike. the last few times i have been skating at the park and almost been steamrolled by some idiot on their mountain bike and i kindly point out to them the fact that there are no mountain bikes allowed in the skatepark they RAGE at me. Its a load of shit, they are called mountain bikes for a reason. i have been riding as long as i can remember and i dont see the reason one would want to waste their time and suspension in a park the was built for dude standing on wheely bords. i dunno im rambling, but leave street and park to bmx and skateboards. flame away but 1its the truth

all i know is that whenever a mtb'er shows up at the park, they seem to take alot of delight in jumping fromt the spine to flat.
there is one guy that is awesome at park though, he rides a spot. luke something. i havent seen him there for a long time but its too bad they all get branded cause most mtb'ers like to use their shocks to absorb drops off the deck. have some good etiquette and stop jumping the box jump over and over and theres no problem. but like i said, that one guy is an awesome rider and he has better manners than any skater there, so its really a never ending cycle. |

Yes, I agree with you for the most part! I ride and skate as well too and mountain bikes have the word "mountain" in the name for a reason=They're built for rocky, root infested trails with bridges, seesaws, hucks and dirt jumps and at most skateparks, especially flat street parks (eg. AMB, Centennial, Strathcona), Mountain Bikers just don't really seem to belong. I can understand wanting to ride parks with lots of transition (eg. Hastings, Kirkstone, Seylynn, Griffin, Richmond, Whistler and Parkgate), but that's a different issue. I ride the local park in Sechelt but only when skaters are at a minimum. I think it's called a skatepark for a reason, They are made for skateboards, it's not a bloody mtn.-bike park, that's Whistler and Sun Peaks in the summer. Get off the parks on your bikes or get interested in "bicycle motocross. At times skateparks are fun to ride, but certainly not everyday.

Many new school "Mountain bikes" are not really mountain bikes at all, they were designed and produced to ride in urban areas and in parks. The only reason there still called "mountain bikes" is cause theyre branded that way simply because there a little larger then a bmx. MTB is facing the same uphill struggle that snowboarding and skateboarding had. In 10 years I doubt many people will slag people for riding a bigger urban bike. Some bmx pros use 24" cruisers for just ripping around. Riding will be better when people stop using the stupid BMX vs MTB thing. There should be just steet/park bikes, dirt bikes, mountain bikes(for actualy mountains) ect. Regardless of size. Not sure im making sense and probally just rambling ah well, my 2

a bike is a tool and you should always use the right tool for the job...a mountain bike beeing the right tool for the mountain. but at the same time i could really care less what your riding, as long as your not snaking everyone its all good. i think its kinda cool seeing a good shocker rip up the park sometimes...they interpret the terain a little differently, it can give you some ideas for new lines amd whatnot. personally tho i'll stick to my bmx, i dont care if i look funny on it..

Nor do I care if I look funny on my Evil in a park.
BMXer's and skaters can say what they want but usually they're ok as I like to think I dont snake anyone and wait till the line I want is open.

its one thing if you're cruising through once in a while, but if you're riding the park a lot why not get a BMX? A BMX kills a MTB for that stuff
