Real Annoying Deore Hydro Problem

My rear Deore hyrdo (m-525 or something) has been giving me troubles latley. Whenever i go into a manual and tap my brake, or tap my rear brake anytime for that matter, the brake stays 1/2 on and makes a horribile squealing noise. It doesnt do this everytime, maybe once or twice an hour. Ive played around with the caliper alignment and everything, but no matter how i set it up, it still does it. Im rather savy when it comes to bikes, and i know how to do most things, but i cant fix this because i dont know whats causing it. Does anyone have an idea whats going on?

when it does it stop imediatley without using the rear brake

check and see whats hanging, are the pads not retracting, is the piston staying in,is the master cylinder hanging up?Then narrow it down further from there

at least you can duplicate the prob on a regualr basis

sounds like u may have a partly ceazed piston in your caliper...

either that or a pad thats not returning with the piston s its supposed to...

check the spring clip and remove the pads and watch the piston's motion out of/into the caliper bores...

watch to see if it seems sticky or sluggish...

I was going to say what IFO just did - sounds like a partly buggered piston - its a cheap fix.

haha, jarred, my old shimano (mechanical too) used to do that, take the pin out that holds the pads in and use some sand paper on it, the little pin gets a build up of crap on it and catches the spring/pad and doesn't like letting it go all the way back.

Shimano uses several different designs and in fact also offers several different pad compound choices for each brake design...

Deore pads are NOT the same as XT pads...

Deore BR-M525 (hydro) and BR-M515 (mech) only come in resin/resin pads.

All other Shimano hydros are available in metal/metal, metal/resin, and resin/resin pad choices.

The above only applies to Shimano pads, not aftermarket pads.

So. Any deore pads will fit any deore brakes? Will the clip thingy that goes between the pads come with them? Will the clip that holds it all together?

Cory, i took the pads out cause they were shot so theres no pads in there. Im gonna bring the atomik tomorrow, and thursday when im in Nanaimo, the bikes getting brought to the shop casue i think the problem wasnt with the pads and i cant figure it out.
