USB drivers

I deleted my USB ports from my device manager in an effort to repair a problem.

i cant get them to work again.

yellow qustion marks everywhere.

It's a Sony GRT100P laptop... WIndows XP PRo.

i cant find the drivers anywhere.

i've searched for the past three hours.

help.

you don't have the driver cds that came with the computer?

okay, here we go:

http://www.iq.sony.com

login as guest (unless you know your model number)

and search for "usb drivers"

sorry, i can't help you with that. i don't know XP at all. i've only used windows 98, mac os, and suse linux.

try sending a pm to norman, i'm sure he can help you out (if he doesn't see this thread).

Ehhh, screw it.

The problem I repeatedly encountered is that the USB support is in SP1, and i have SP2 installed. SP1 does not operate when SP2 is around.

Formating drive C as we speak. (obviously on a different computer)

needed a clean install anyway. A new beginning.

damn, after reformatting and reinstalling everything my computer is blazing fast.

from hitting the power switch to being fully booted takes like 60 seconds. used to take like 3 minutes.

i am downloading at nearly 1.2 Mbps.... used to max out at 600-700kbs.

everything is running smooooooth.
