hey i have an 02 long minuteman and i love it to death. my only advice is get a bolt on rear axle for your rear wheel, otherwise you'll get some mad slippage when pedaling hard (if you have QR)

I'm riding one, and I love it! It's taken lots of bails, and some big hits, and it just continues on chugging.
The only concern would be the future of Balfa as a company. From what I've heard, they've essentially gone out of buisness. The frames used to be made in Montreal, so that was awesome. But if they make any frames next year, word has it that they're going to be made overseas. And a balfa made overseas is no longer a balfa. Balfa got taken over by ProCycle (Rocky Mountain is owned by them too) and then they fired the two originators of the company. This was a bad move, as it attracted alot of industry backlash, and without those two guys, the company started to fall apart. There's been alot of talk about what the company is up to, and I don't know how much of it is real, and what is rumour. But it might be worth it to inspect a bit. It'd be hard to get warranty stuff (not that it's going to break anyway...but you never know) and any company support these days. Check out Chromag...the Gypsy would be the frame you'd be after. They're handmade in Squamish, and the owner is from Whistler. They're still pretty rare at this point, but if you try hard enough, you might be able to get your hands on one. I think they retail for just over 1000 CAD, frame only. Alot of handmade love goes into those frames. www.chromagbikes.com
