Grouse Grind

so i finaly got my gf to come do the Grind with me the other day (42 mins for me btw ) and as we were heading up i was thinking to myself "i wonder if anyone has ridden down here before or has attemped it."

so, has anyone else thought of it or tried it? do they let bikes on the Gondola? do they allow bikes on the Grind? and footage of it?
or does anyone wanna come with to try it?

ya i heard from one of the maintanence guys that there's a road you could ride up cuz it's locked to keep cars out. but doing the Grind was enough of a workout for me, let alone riding a 48 pound bike up there....

also, i was looking at The Cut skiing run and thought it'd be pretty sick to barrel down it on my bike. anyone gone down the Cut or the Grind?

Ah, i work up there and have asked many people many times..

I know that if I sweet talk the guys i can come up on the blue tram ( its what we use to get our supplys up) early in the morning (like 7 ish) .. and then ride down fromme. You cant ride down the grind

Yah the only chance u really have to take the gondola up is if you work up there. A friend of mine was doing the bike camps up there all summer and they would let him take his bike up in the morning use it during the day then ride down fromme. Also the camps he did acutally used the cut chair to come back up. and sometimes they would take the kids down the world cup run.

There's a trail off the bottom of the cut to the top of St Georges st. which you can ride down (i've done it a long time ago). There used to be a chairlift there to the bottom of the cut, until they built the old skyride and current lodge, which was probably sometime in the 60's. I think riding the Grind would be a nightmare. There's a lot of sustained steeps and it's extremely worn out.

Niggz has it right. Can't get enough O2 in the lungs with all the perfume in the air on the Grind. And the sweaty makeup on the rocks is really slippery.

I rode the grind years ago before they ruined it with all those stairs and bullshit ladders. Not really rideable anymore. All the good lines are built over.

I read about some retarded rescues on the Grind, like one woman who took her 3 year old up there, or the family that took a 7 year old and then left her behind and waited up top cuz she was too slow

Its good that NSSR tells these people how stupid they are and gives em grief for the rescue. And if you're injured they give you a nice bumpy, painful ride out

Hey friends to The North!
I've been to The Shore before, but it was in July.
What can I expect as far as weather, in mid-November?
Temps? Snow(?)
Thanks,
