virus help

somehow i got a file called readme.exe on my comp (no i didn;t open an email that promised me a million dollars, smaller waist or a larger penis)

my good useless buddy norton tells me it is on my comp but also mentions that is is "unable to repair file"

nice norton, now do what i pay you for and fix the fucking thing

u can't repair it cuz the file itself is a virus.... not a repairable system file. just quarantine or delete it w/ norton

yup, its not a system file that was corrupted by a virus, its an actual virus file.

dump it as k2 said.

oh shit, yeah. i see - norton pisses me off sometimes not being able to delete files etc etc, so i jumped the gun. i am doing a scan now, i hope it lets me delete

it will let you put it in quarantine, and then you can purge the quarantine folder or whatever and it will be gone. kinda like what the penicillin did for your little "condition"

yeah, 5 adwares found (now it doesn't even find the readme.exe !!!) and it says delete failed!

it now gives me 2 options, exclude or sjip! fucking stupid norton.

now i will run adware and spybot and they won't find the 5.

i have such brutal luck with comps!

ohhhhhhhhh. you knew that was coming.

i had FIVE viruses that norton either didn't get/couldn't fix or delete. i switched to AVG which is free and it got rid of all of them.

try that.

gear, not to ruffle your feathers further, but there was a security hole in mozilla found, and the same day there was a patch that fixed the security hole released.

IE, well, you often wait weeks for MS to fix the hole and release a patch.
