it basically goes through and tells you what was switched around exaggerated etc in the movie, since i mean bowling for columbine wasnt totally non-fiction. i remember people telling me that even when it came out.

but something like the NRA having NO POSSIBLE WAY of getting out of an annual meeting (that had already been planned) in Columbine and the state legislation not letting them cancel the meeting, yet they cancelled a couple days of related stuff surrounding the meeting out of respect.

or splicing together some ad campaigns.

i dunno, nice to see a contrast. kind of important.

none the less I will comment, bashing m moore is now in vogue, ask yourself this do you feel lucky , well do you? because thats what the whole world will need if we get another bush admin.
They fixxed the last election and will probaly fix this one. nice connection betwenn the bushes and bin laden family...I hope you are possibly just trying to open the debate but some of this moore bashing is nothing more than dangerous conservative propaganda.

Actually Zaskar has been in support of M Moore and has spoken about that in several other threads, but he's obviously looking at both sides of the equation, which is commendable. There's always two sides to a story, and you usually can't truly understand something until you've looked at it from all sides.

PS - Zaskar, what has sparked all of your socio/political thought lately?

yeah it always does to remember that moore is trying to sell books, theater tickets and dvds too. polemic is fun and all, but it shouldn't be allowed to take the place of serious analysis, and the stuff raised in here (which i've seen before) is valid. it's certainly the kind of judicious editing that moore himself would be delighted to skewer if it were perpetrated by those he's opposed to. this should not be viewed as a moore-bash because i am glad he manages to mobilize opinion, especially that of the, uh, younger generation. but dubious journalism is dubious journalim whichever way you cut it, and ther reason it's a bad thing is it lets people off the hook too easily, gives em an easy get-out.

I couldnt read the post he linked too so Im not sure what it said. I agree some of moore's hype is very self serving and promotional in nature. ie he making money.
Still tho we need any help we can get to alert the masses to the incredible mismanagement of foreign and domestic policy by the worlds greatest super-power.

okay I was able to read that now. yea well some of that is probably true , but who knows? If moore did lie so blatantly in his film why didnt heston , the nra , or others so slagged not sue? The usa has wicked libel laws and it seems it would be a slam dunk case.

It IS right wing propaganda, however, it is no worse than the left wing stuff MMoore throws in our face for the duration of the movie and his books.

Personnally I agrre a bit more with Moore than with Hardy. Hardy IS a fairly successful lawyer in Arizona and is called "the gun owners best friend." He's just a bit too far right for me.

Let's think of it this way. You are holding a meeting for one of the largest lobbying organizations in the US and are asked to cancel it because of a shooting. I'd say neither. It certainly didn't go down how it was supposed to, but I don't buy into the theory that someone rigged the elections. I'm not happy with Bush winning, but it wasn't that no one voted for him. It was near 50/50 for the election, the fact that some idiots in Florida couldn't tally votes correctly isn't going to change that. No, it was not rigged, the election worked how it was set up to work(we already knew that this was a possibility). Yes I think we can change our electoral process to be more representative of our country. The problem however isn't blaming a certain party, it lies in the system itself.

I can go into more detail of what is wrong with our process, but I'm not sure that would be appropriate here and you probably have some idea on it as of now.
