The Future Of The World

So i was sitting in Socials today with nothing to do so i started thinking. For millions of years life went by pretty much unchanged, now in the past 10,000 years and esepecially the past 100, drastic changes have been made in technology, humanity, politics, communication, and in other fields. This made me think of what future advances are going to be made. 100 years ago a "computer" or "the internet" were unheard of. So imagine what kind of things will be invented in the next 100 years. Also, with the constant military unrest throughout the world, the advances in weaponry, and the United States' "self imposed" world leadership (eg. being the contry that tries to take control of the Iraq situation), i think that sometime in the future some kind of war will break out involving the US. Im not talking about any small war, more of a third world war. There are plenty countries and/or organizations with access nukes who dont along well with the US. Also scietific advances in physics will make now impossible things possible. Who knows maybe time travel will become possible. At the rate we are going, it will only be another few hundred years until some of our non-renewable resources become depleted. What will happen to the world when all our natural gas runs out? Whatever your opinion on these topics are, i think we must all agree that the future of our planet will be very differenet and many changes will be made, some good and some bad. Someone needs to give us a big slap in the face and open our and show us whats happening, casue we are gonna see some real scary shit. Discuss

i think that if there is a god, and the bible is true, jesus will come soon. i don't think that the world can go down the shitter more... with the stuff on t.v. like britney, steve-o and other people it just seems like morals have gone out the door.

Unfortunately I think when the slap in the face comes along, it'll either be in the form a large scale terrorist attack against the US and would have huge implications for the World; not just North America. Compared to Europes history of War, we've had it good to say the least (yes you could argue the length of civilization being there). If not a terrorist attack against the US, I have a feeling the N. Korea situation will melt down and a few ICBM's could go flying off towards somewhere.

Mike - there is something WE can do. We just dont know what yet as our society seems to be more reactionary. If something large scale did happen, would you still have the same attitude?

As for society going down the tube and Jesus rolling back through town, a few things come to mind. Society could be much worse off. Much much worse. Britney and Steve O are nothing more than distractions so most people dont pay attention to larger more important issues such as the homeless guy behind where you work or the environmental cover ups we have no clue about. Or to brighten up the American populous (sp?) so they can make it through another day? And where the hell would Jesus start with the mess they've got us all in? Would he just smite GW and co along with who else deserves it? Or would he simply not care as we didnt heed his learnings?

these are all end times scenarios that i have dreamt about:

1. US secretly builds new weapons for the war on terrorism and something goes wrong and a plague 100x worse than the bubonic plague is unleashed on the earth.

2. US and other powerful countries work on developing a system where they can control earthquakes and then they lose control of it causing the land to collapse into the sea.

3. US, China, Europe, Russia try and develop a weather control system to battle the increasing greehouse effect and rising temps only to have it go to one extreme or the other basically killing off all sources of food and water.

4. Aliens decide to make themselves known to humans and shit hits the fan because of a large fear of the unknown. This results in a new, almost untested thermo-nuclear device being detonated in an attempt to kill the Aliens but in the process releases an unknown and unexpected toxin into the air that slowly kills the population.

as for jesus coming back, i think he is ditching us. we have known for years and years what we are doing to this world and did we try and stop it. nope. he aint going to come back and clean up our shit.

Here's what I think about your respsonses -

1 - Plague could be AIDS, Cancer or SARS. Or all three.

2 - Some people would have you believe they already can control Earthquakes. Watch Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson if you havent seen it.

3 - Thats an interesting idea about whether control. Only thing is I think the development of such a device would cause a war right there since it could used indiscreetly as a perfect weapon and people would vie for control of it (cough cough US).

4 - Anything could be happen with the grays. They could actually prevent us from using a big bad nuke or really really help us out afterwards assuming A) they exist B) we didnt piss them off by trying to blow their shit up.

Jesus - I'm not a religous man so I think you've all been sold out by the church (if i happen to get smited by a freak lightning bolt, I'll believe for the .2 seconds I'm alive )

That implies we all repent out devious explicit ways on a mass public scale which is hard to do.
