'03 Super T Oil Height / Problem

Can anyone tell me the correct oil height for my '03 Super T's, the '03 manual doesn't say, but my '02 manual says 95mm is that correct for '03's as well??
I tried to search the forum, 'cause i'm sure i've seen this posted before, but couldn't find any info.

I bought the forks used & have only ridden them a few times, when i ride over lots of small rocks or roots on the trail, the forks seem to rattle (a bit like as if the headset is loose). Also if if lift the front wheel the forks make the same noise, as if there are no top out springs.
I've tried altering the rebound & preload to see if more or less would help & i've checked the headset, it's definately the forks.

I'm thinking the oil level must be low, does that sound like the cause of the noise, or should I be looking for something else when I look inside the forks??

Check the preload caps and see if there is any movement while you lift the front wheel
My 2002 super t made small clicking noises when the wheel first made contact with the ground. It turns out there was a little bit of play under the caps.
I emailed the marz guys in california and they sent me some shims (thin washers) that slide under the c-clip to get rid of the noise.
Not sure if this would be your problem but it's worth a look.

Oil height is 80mm. It's on the Marzocchi web site.

When you pull up on the fork, from rest, the fork will extend a tad (negative travel). You're probably getting noise from topping out, but as to why I doubt it's oil level.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I'm going to take them apart & have a look tomorrow night.
I'm sure that oil height chart wasn't on the Marzocchi website last time I looked. or maybe i just didn't look hard enough

I just checked & there is movement in the top caps, I think that could well be where the knocking is coming from. Thanks for that.

I've just got to get hold of some thin washers from somewhere.

Any tips for getting the circlips off the topcaps without losing them?

You have to use a 1.5mm allen key to loosen the screws that hold the top caps on and then you can see the clips underneath.
Use a very small straight edge screwdriver and slowly put pressure on one side and the clip should slide off into your hand.
Just be gentle because they can bend easily.
Marz sent me a pack of 4 shims and I put 2 under each clip. These washers are paper thin and don't look like much but they do the job nicely.
I think marz was offering these as a free fix so I would check with your lbs to see if they can get you some. I just wrote a nice email to them and they sent me some in the mail.

I was impressed with the customer service.

I have the same oise with my Super. I'm sure its just it "topping out". You can stop it by slowing your rebound down, but it really isn't a big deal.

I tried slowing the rebound right down & still had the noise.
I'm sure the problem is like Casper said, as I can feel the movement in the top cap.
