(partially) blown shock.

So i discovered a pool of oil under my shock the other day yada yada,
the shock is a fox vanilla R,circa 2000
anyways, i investigated a little more, and it turned out that part of the main body had unthreaded a little, and oil was weeping out.
I tightened things back up, and voila,no more oil leaking..BUT, the shock makes horrible sucking/scratching noises along with a bit of a pogo stick effect for the first say 5 compressions, then it seems that oil is being cycled through better.

Is this scratching/sucking/pogo all from a lack of oil that has escaped,or is there some nitrogen that has gotten out as well?

Will the shock hold steady and work as normal after it's been compressed a few times to get oil or nitrogen flowing a bit better?

Will it stay like this,or will it get worse and worse?

sounds like lack of oil to me.

Not enough to keep everything oiled up when it sits between rides

my vanilla r doesn't have anything to unthread from,it's the part with the seal that the piston shaft goes into that came unthreaded a little.
unfortunately, there aren't many shocks that will fit in a bb7 of my vintage..in fact, the vanilla r is about all that'll fit.I'm thinking i'll send it in to push industries for a rebuild, and see how that holds.i doubt i'll get it pushed--i don't believe the option is available for a vanilla r.
