Exclamation Very bad crash at Calgary snow race.

First let me just say; Holy Shit.

Snow races were held tonight at cop. In Quarter-finals (I think) Steve (Airborn on here) and Dave booth launched a jump very large. Both riders ditched bikes midair as they were nowhere near the landing (not kidding you, they must have gaped 30-40 feet). Dave hit down hard, still no word if he is alright, no signs of movement after the crash.

Steve hit hard square on what looked to be his tailbone. Both crashes where in the span of about 2 seconds. Both guys were brought to ambulances very quickly. (Huge props to COP on the work). Steve I think will be alright, he was sort of moving around and has no loss of memory.

http://v10.pinkbike.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=60783

Lets show some support for a down rider and hope that he recovers fully.

Scariest crash I've ever seen. Seeing both guys go down at once, and Dave falling 30+ vertical ft to flat on his legs was not cool. I think it looked worse then Butlers crash, and I think that's saying a lot. I really hope both Steve and Dave can recover fully from their respective injuries.

Oh, man. Healing vibes across the board on this one. Don't want to see the vid, really...sounds like enough of the peeps that saw it painted a good enough pic for ME.
Steve, good to hear you basically just have a sore ass...glad that's really it and hope it heals quick.
Dave sounds like the person that's going to need the major healing karma sent his way. Hope that he comes out of this ok eventually.
For sure, that is one of my few fears when I go off something close to my threshold - will I touch the ground the same way I left it?
That situation is something I would wish upon nobody, regardless of how 'lame' I think they are...

i am confused. how did both riders launch a jump and land nowhere near the landing... like both riders cleared the tranny? went to the side?

why did they ditch their bikes if they still had rubber side down? (or were they both nosing it?) i am obviously missing the whole picture....

anyway, hope it all turns out OK. sounds real bad.

Wow, that sounds rough. Hope all works out well for them and they have a full recovery.

Folks are getting hurt at a rather alarming rate, going bigger all of the time. One has to wonder two things: is it really worth it, and how long until someone dies?

shit
that's terrible
i couldnt even imagine what that must have been like, i've over cleared jumps by a few feet, and you have that feeling as soon as you take off that you're going too far, and to realize that you're going that many feet too far

Well you see when your about 15ft above the lip of a 20ft snow table and you see that your clearing the tranny by a fuckload, meaning your gonna fall about 30 - 40ft to flat then staying on the bike would not be cool at all. I heard them hit the snow and I was like 150ft away sessioning the tables on the other side of the super pipe.
