Leg Armour

Looking for some not too expensive but HIGHLY durable leg armour. Im looking at the Roach Indy leg, but cant find a price. anyone know? how do they fit, do they slide down? Its gotta stay in place b/c im not really gonna stop and put them on and take them off. Its gotta be somewhat ventilated, but its not a big issue. Its just gotta be able to stay where i put it, because I ride a long time around town, and on the trails. any suggestions?

i use fox 911's. they've held up REAL good through this season. vent well. couple complaints though.

1 - they DO slide. every couple of minutes, i'm finding myself pulling them up. happens more often when i'm climbing....

2 - open back. some people may not care. i don't care. but, if you want full coverage, look elsewhere.

3 - the top velcro. although there is a layer between the velcro and your skin, the velcro goes VERY close to the edge of that layer. and that layer likes to fold itself under. so the velcro scratches. not the teeth on the velcro, but the edge of the velcro patch. like a bad (shirt) tag - its fine, when the smooth is against you, but when an edge starts digging in....

overall, i've been pretty pleased with them though. the hard plastic shell sure beats the nylon systems of other companies, at least in my opinion.

duncs05 is through the gate, and climbing past the water towers
how much money are you willing to spend cuz the dainese race leg is super comfy, really light and doesnt slide much at all and they arent hot either, very well ventilated, but they are over 100 bucks but if you willing to pay over that then go for the dainese

I also have the fox 911's and I really like them. The only problem is they slip a bit.

Hmmm. Had the Dainese leg armour for about half a season and since day one they did more harm than good. Switched over to the ROACH...no comparison. The ROACH hard shell pads are solid, stay in place and are super comfy. I got the ones without the mesh backing (FR?) and could not be happier. As for the price range, have seen them on our coast retailing for between 90-115. Check out BIKEROOM.COM. They had some good deal's on the DH? ones....Good luck.

look into the new Roach for a durable solution...and it does appear to offer alot of benefits...

def worthy of looking into...

but dont count out a set of these...

http://www.bikeroom.com/product.cfm?ProductID=241

i have a set of 02 Race legs and they are a decent set of gear...

esp. for the asking price...

Listen to Bigdaddy. The new hardshell Roach (Rally) pads are fookin awesome. I couldn't be happier with them. They've got a hard shell, awesome fit, they don't slide and you barely notice you're wearing them. Plus, I bailed like 8 feet to my knees from a botched dirtjump and felt almost nothing so I can personally attest to the degree of protection.

those roach's look like they SHOULD stay still pretty well... i haven't used them though, and don't ride with anyone that does, so i can't comment on it either though.

heres my beef with the 911 - i'm pinner. 5'9", and ~145. the majority of that is upper-body.

the ankle-strap on my 911's is too long - or the velcro is too short. i can't get it wrapped tightly. and with only one strap for the calf, there isn't much to hold on to...

those roaches look like the bottom strap would be ankle, middle would be lower calf, and 3rd strap up would be above calf. provide a little more security for the lower leg. then of course theres the 4th, for the thigh...

That's funny, my friend is 6'2", 195lbs and his 03 911s have to be wrapped twice around the ankle to take up the slack

I find the opposite of the Roach, the straps are much shorter.
