man i hate the morning news
i was watching the news. and honestly...fuck the news. seriously. i watch two stations as i'm flippen through. on one station i got cbn the 700 club or whatever doing a story on gay marriages, all cool right. whatever. so they're given the fight for gay marriages a little air time and they're tellin more bout how they're pushin to get it legalized or ammend the constitution to decide once or for all what a marriage is to end the controversy. not like we havent heard this story before...then the news commentator comes on gives a 5 min speech on how america was founded on christian ethics (i forgot how anyone in america is now suddenly christian) and how wrong gay marriages are (you can be pro or anti, its all cool) and then says to call the network for BUMPER STICKER denouncing them. Get this...a news reporter...on public television..on a national news station...using NETWORK MONEY/AIRTIME to tell a nation of people how against it he is and how everyone should be christian. Then tells them how he's got fuckin bumpers stickers for people if they call in. Throws the number/website/email deal up there.
on another station. this one being CNN with everyones good buddy WOLF BLITZER REPORTS. we get him explaining an anti-globalization demonstration in miami florida. i mean...not surprising right. so it isnt like we havent seen a million of these before. not only are they tear gasing arresting and having huge rally gear like....200 long lines of these rally dudes in front of these protestors who are just illen an chillen (seriously from the footage while they were reporting it was a sunday school picnic with alot of signs)....but they're saying how they tear gased them and repressed them because an officer was pushed and fell back and "hurt his neck". i forgot how having 200 armoured police officers in front of a peaceful protest didnt remind people a little bit of how they are being controlled. so one dude gets pushed. they're pullen him off and everybody gets teared gased and in the midst of it some guy gets kicked in the head so they arrested some people. then the police dude comes on TV saying how it's under control gives the story bout one dude getting pushed and another kicked then blames it on anarchists and how they're just there to fight for the sake of fighting? really. for fucks sake. i forgot how it was a whole political belief but apparently it's now another label for people to watch out for. why didnt i like the second broadcast? because they took a crack at these obviously peaceful protestors not only by tear gassing them but insulting their motives on CNN and didn't even interview one of them to let their side of it be heard. my overall beef? bias reporting. the first especially. since when do reporters have opinions and since when does a network support one or the other. they should strictly be there for the facts. leave the opinions to everyone else. dumb fuckers. After all this....a report on a bombing in iraq then 2 more bombings this week in Turkey ![]() My coffee tastes good though Cam. |

Everytime there is a bombing, I look at what else is going on in the news. Look at the big geopolitical picture and see who benefits.
Look at today. Bush is getting protesting in the UK touting his war, well next thing you know, British targets in Turkey get blowed up. Why? Make Bush look right in the eyes of the British public. See we need this war, your stuff is getting blowed up! Yesterday, it was Jacko molesting kids that took the headlines, not the fact that the Brits are pissed about W coming to see them. CNN - Contains No News. Aljazeera pulls no punches. They are calling the war a Military Occupation of Iraq. Perle admitted today that the whole war is illegal, but that it would be immoral to leave Hussein alone, so they had to do it. Peale talking about morality is like an eskimo talking about a sand storm. My coffee is also very good.

yea man i made such a mean pot of coffee today. and added some intense flavour hazelnut cream stuff.
bush asked to have central london shut down completely then got pissed at the mayor for saying not a chance then turned around and told people that he's glad the protestors can make their displays because it's democracy at work. the right to protest and show opinions. hahahaha my ass. he tried to have it so they wouldnt show on TV. this was more about the fact that the network/reporter were so against the gay marriage thing. i dont think its their place to take sides. also with the protestors. it's not the news place to take sides and only show the one "righteous" side and yes the war is illegal. my question is why is Bush not being taken before the UN? morality is all a question of beliefs. and those are up to the aggressor as to what is "right" and "wrong". I thought the UN was supposed to be the middle guy. There are enough countries against it, why don't they bring Bush before a UN council and ask him why he violated treaties they were a founding member for creating....

the problem is that 50,75,100 years ago there wasnt really much of a news network. things couldnt get pumped out like they can today with satellites internet radio and television. people weren't so connected to the news. i think part of the reason things are thrown at us so much is to keep a sense of urgency. people would know shit is getting blown up in Iraq if they didnt tell you daily and show you pictures of burnt out cars and chaos on tstreets dogs picking peoples out of rubble. Instead they show us so we keep seein the progress though we couldnt care less if someone just randomly told us on the street. I think television is the biggest purveyor of this kind of media. Imagery. People don't want to know, they want to see and I think underneath people wanna see shit blown up whoever it is. Just so they can see that theres something actually going on, it kinda clicks a mental que that ya some shit really is goin down. Wasn't good for us but at least somethings happening over there.
As soon as people forget about the everyday they forget it ever happened. Look at Afghanistan. How much news coverage or anti-afghanistan or anti-american sentiment yoiu hear about that lately? Now compare it to Iraq. Troops in both...yet the media focuses on Iraq, so do we. The urgency of the NOW lets us forget about the THEN. So we see tanks getting blown up by terrorists it moves our minds off whats goin on elsewhere. |

700 Club is far from being news. It's a religous platform from which far-right (dare I say fundamentalist?) Christians skew the news events of the moment. Media watchdogs think Fundamentalist Islamic mosques in the far corners of the world are a threat? They should to pay attention to the 700 Club; there's some crazy rhetoric coming from that show. Not that CNN is much better....
Cheers to the Java. |

I like the way the US talks about being defenders of freedom and then when the fucking Dixie Chicks speak out against the war in Iraq, people burn their cd's. US foreign policy *scares* the hell out of me!
Also, whatever happened to the anthrax issue. Funny how that just ended. No more coverage. For alternative sources of media, the New Internationalist offers a 'southern' perspective (http://www.newint.org/) and the Manchester Guardian Weekly usually has some great articles. I guess with media it is important to remember that there is no truth, and what your getting is just one slice of a larger pie and that it is up to you to fill in the rest of the pie with all the other slices. in case anyone is interested-here are the top 10 censored stories: http://www.projectcensored.org/publi...004/index.html My coffee is Organic Rainforest, picked up yesterday hot off the roaster at the Cowboy Coffee warehouse.
