sun doubletrack problems?

i've just had some alarming news. i intend to purchase a pair of sun doubletrack rims but have been reliably informed that they are not that good. the problem being that the spoke holes are not drilled at an angle, causing regular spoke failure. has any body else had these problems?
thanks
Les

2 years and 4 rims(2 bikes) and no real problems.i would buy them again in a second.i'm not good at tensioning spokes, or should i say keeping an eye on the tension and the wheels always run true.i did blow one up recently, but it was not the rims fault 10-12 foot gap and came up a good foot short.

best wheels i ever owned. you can be pretty rough on them and they stay true. i am also 220.

same as Putty
Running them on a hardtail now, and my friends got em on a sus; and no probs at all.
Build quality is the most important thing when it comes to wheels. I'm sure I could lace one up and it'd last as long as a rice noodle hoop!
But the guys at Overtime sure know how to build them strong! (added for us Canadians)

Get WheelPro or Merlin Cycles to build you a set and you can't go wrong!
(added for us Brits!).
And don't forget Merlin also do great deals on 521's

That says it all right there. At that price point, most rims are pretty much equal. 321s, trailpimps, mag30s, doubletracks, etc. The true determining factor in how good or bad those rims will be is how well the wheel is built.

ive ran them for 2 years now and they are only slightly out of true, no problems other than changing tires can be a bit of a bitch.

i call bullshit on that bit of trivia....

teh DBLtrack is a fine rim... have no fears...

tons of people thrash on those rims...if there was a REAL issue it would have surfaced long ago...

i wouldnt be at all worried about gettting em...

BULLSHIT.

ive been riding a SINGLETRACK on the rear of my steel hardtail for one and a half years now and i've only trued it a couple of times and its got no flat spots. remember, a lot of the myth regarding rims and their robustness acutally revolves around how SMOOTH the rider is on his rims. i know riders (VancouverIsleGuy) who are so UNSMOOTH that it wouldn't make a difference if their rims were made of cast iron, they'd still fold them over.

I believe that anyone who says they suck, either abuses them, dont tension the spokes or some neglect like that, then they case a gap or something and the rim blows up. Any rim will do that if you dont look after it. If you tension the spokes and look after the rim, you wont be dissapointed. The price is very reasonable too.
