Inner bash/guide pros/cons

I currently have an Evil DRS chainguide that I use on my Banshee Scream. I took off my front derailleur because I have no use for it, and now my chain drops off the ring a fair bit. What are my options? I could take off the guide and just use an inner bash, leave the guide on and add an inner bash, or get a new guide.

you might or might not run into the same problems im having....i have a morphine that im just finishing, i used to run a single middle ring between a bash guard and the Envy inner ring(double "E" its called) on my Torrent. because the morphine has fat-ass chain stay, i cannot run the envy inner "E" that i had used before....im thinking of either: 1) getting a 118mm BB instead of the 113mm BB im using right now....but i still dont think that would create enough room for the inner "E" besides the chain line with a 113 BB is spot on!! 2) using the ISCG mount a fixed inner plate just smaller than the bash guard which would be open a few inches to clear the chain stay!! but if this doesnt concern u, pick up a Envy double "E" or inner "E" whatever and your chain droping is solved!! i swear by it......hope that didnt confuse u like it did me

Yeah, get the envy. I dropped a chain twice in 2 years with it. It's cheap, too.

Is an inner bash especially noisy?

Also, I have a 118mm bb.

Derek: When your chain dropped, what was the cause?

the inner "e" sells for 35 bux or so....as for noise, you might here the occasional "ting-ting" but im sure you could use tape or something on the inner side of it to be stealth. as for coming off, i dont think it could slip in between the middle ring and inner "E" it may jump off i you hit a mountain goat or trail nazi....all in all it pays off!!

and nick1111, u might be better off than me with a 118mm BB to fit a inner "E" cause i cant see the room on my morphine even if i did have a 118 BB....its kinda hard to accurately check to see if its compatiable or not, if you figure the small ring up front is enlarged to the same diameter of your bash guard.....would it then clear the chain stay. i go rack my brain more and figure shit out....

yea, i made one for $0. get a piece of aluminum, a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade, and a drill. if you have those it will cost nothing.

i've had the inner E ($30) for over a year now. i can remember dropping my chain but for arguments sake ill say its dropped twice in the last year. if you can squeeze it in the inner bash guard is the way to go.
