Update on Kelowna and Gillard?

Hey Kelowna riders, I havne't heard any news as of late, and am wondering what's going on in Kelowna? I've heard rumours that the upper half of Gillard was spared? and other people saying it all got burned, and various other stories, so I'm wondering what the real deal is? Or if anyone has even been allowed in to assess the damages yet?

I didn't pay really close attention...but the last I saw(few weeks before the fires)....there was a line and jump face roughed in for gapping the road DJ style after the main road gap....but NO landing work at that time.

Ryan said Gillard is pretty much a write off...I'd trust his judgement.

Well I hope the locals manage to find somewhere else that they can build if they haven't already. For a riding population with that much talent to not have a home base to ride at must just suck.

Holy shit! those pictures are insane!! I can't believe the devastation, although I also can't believe that some of the stuff survived the fires, but the fact that it survived and people are riding on it, i'd be sketched out that it would break.

Ok, here is the scoop:

Gillard will be salvaged!

There is enough existing trail left that we have all agreed that rebuilding will be worth it. We had half a new trail built (that was the most raddest trail ever built there) two weeks ago but....... Ministry of Forests decided that they weren't finish doing their clean-up and ended up ploughing the whole thing! Extremely Shitty...... I was like another kick in the face. There is snow up there right now so the main focus is building new stunts on existing trails.

Those pics on Pinkbike don't show any of the really burned areas. Super Bowel and Dirty Sanchez are completely nuked. You would get lost trying to walk down those trails. Everything above that has only scattered burned areas. Just about everything on the east side of Gillard road is untouched.

If anyone wants specific details on any trails or plans, please feel free to PM me.
