Same sex books

Just as it is not accepted to push religion in our schools......
Why are they letting "same-sex" books into the school system?
Thats all great and lovely that Homosexuals are so "accepted" by everyone who is "politically correct" these days

But WHY do they keep pushing? Just let it F'in rest already!!!

Gays are part of society. But they're pushing it too far. Why do they insist on teaching my daughter at public school that "their" dysfunction is "normal". Why do they keep having to justify everything!

I'm totally upset......don't even know what to say, or how to fight it. Nothing I can say will come out "right or "correct".....so whatever........

Minor CORRECTION.
I just heard on CBC radio that these books are still not allowed yet......the school board has to readdress WHY they are not allowing the books....and they can't use religion as a major reason, thought it may still be a factor.

$500......they are like grade 4-6 level books that show Mary and Jane living happily ever after. It's titled "Mikes Moms" or something like that.
Not really academic books at all.....but fully intended to get gay rights/views across to kids.

Interesting....I don't think they teach that around here, but they teach a ton of sex education stuff which gets annoying the fourth time they explain it to you.

I kinda got lost in the first post, why can't they just say people are different and that is the end. Over the past few years I have worked at places with homosexuals and never once did they bother me. Although, I managed to make them mad with some of my views.

One last bit, as an example around here if someone different (ie, not a white straight male) gets passed over for a job it is automatic discrimination. Nice huh?

homos are pretty much normal except for their liking of the same sex but I believe that the stuff they believe should not be taught in public schools. I think the should have their own school so they don't have to spoil the minds of young people

What's wrong with it? How are spoiling kids' minds? It's prevelant and all around us no matter if you like it or not. So why not let them be exposed to it? You are not going to help your kids' future by hiding it from them. Don't breed ignorance in your kids. They will grow up with the same impressions of a large part of society that will always be around.

You don't have to agree with homosexuality, but you can't do anything about it, so why not let them learn about the issue and make up their own minds? Or do you want to do it for them? There's no sense in hiding yourselves from an issue when it is something that will always exist. I don't understand that point of view. Maybe it's just a cracker thing.

i didnt have any homosexual openness books in my school but look at me now, a perfectly accepting individual. 4th graders should be learning their long division, not political correctness

I was hidden from issues like this because I grew up in a small town as a redneck. I was always asking questions about people who were different from my family and myself because I was intrigued by other people. I didn't like the fact that my family would hide things from me when it wasn't damaging to learn about them.

I agree that under 5, they probably don't need to know about Johnny's 2 dads. But why not let them form their own opinions to what yours are? Is that not the best way to raise kids? It's like the religious family who tells their kids that there is only creation. Show them both sides and let them make up their own minds.

Don't confuse not teaching religion in schools with not allowing prayer in schools. When I was in highschool we had a required course on religion. It covered every major religion. It did not teach that one is right or wrong. I have no problem with that, just like I have no problem with teaching that there are homosexuals in this world.

Let me ask this. If what our society has been doing all along, promoting intolerance of homosexuality, is the correct course of action, how did we get all these homosexuals?
