why is it that we have to learn about absolutly nuthing, and get graded on it, we r taught to remerb stupid broing facts, sum of the msot fucked up englsih i have ever read (shakesper) and things that r totaly biased to a side of the story. does the goverment jsut corupt u early on in life to try to pound "facts" or "ideas" or "ways of doing things" into your brain with so that u will follow their ways l8r on in life, or is ther an actual purpose of knowing what sum craked out hippy wrote when he was drinkin to much worm wood oil?

sorry if this rant seems un fact based, offensive, jsut palin stupid

but i think sum of us could lear a lt from some of u older guys in thise thread

english is a course that cant be used in life skills...u r taught to write and read properly...and how to explain complicated issues...the books and poems they use r just examples to make it easy...how easy do u think it is to learn to read or make up an actual punctuated sentince w/ out examples from worksheets and in books?

In high school I didn't have an appreciation for what was being taught, most of the time I could care less. It wasn't until post-secondary that I started to realize that what they teach is secondary to learning how to learn and think for myself (like FJ said). It's something that you can not understand at all until you've experienced it.

I think (based purely on my own observations) that people who lack the ability to learn are the types of people who end up being ignorant, racist, quick to judge, impatient, lacking morals and generally just real assholes.

So, in answer to your question - I don't think the gov't has any plan of deceit - what good would come of it? The stuff that is taught in school is taught because that's what our society has been built on - there is nothing else to teach really (other than more stuff that could be criticized just as easily). I think the hope is that you'll discover for yourself why Shakespeare was such a genius or that discovering why the sky is blue may spark some sort of curiosity in you that will lead you in the "right direction".

If you don't care about anything you're learning in school, then more than likely there is something wrong with you (I hate to say it, but I think you can see my point).

i duno about not seein graphs again, i took calc last year and graphs played a decently sized part in the course
but if u dont wanna take it, u dont have to. thats the nice thing
