riding abroad

I am looking to go riding somewhere other than B.C. I thought about going down to the States or even over to Europe. has anyone ever ridden In Austria, Switzerland or even Moab? I am trying to plan a trip for FEB or MAR. So I have to keep in mind that there still may be snow in some parts of the world. If you have any ideas or suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks.

Well i think i can safely tell you that there won't be snow in australia considering its about summer there and in moab since its a desert. That's all the useless info that you already know that i can give you. have fun wherever you go sounds wicked.

If I were to have a month off with no job, wife, kids, mortgage payments, dogs and cat to look after I'd bust an offshore move to Ecuador, Chile and maybe even Argentina with my trail bike and cyclocross bike. Onshore I'd just hit up SoCal and Mex.

I'm looking to head out either West (Vancouver) or elsewhere (as long as airfare is under 1200.oo and place to stay is reasonable ~ 60.00 will stay in a hostel with a bike lock up). If you happen to find some place with a group rate and you need some people I may consider it. I'm mostly a XCountry intermediate tech' rider, but I'll try anything as long as it doesn't kill me.

Mexico would be neat.
Austrialia sounds expensive.
Alaksa would be cool - the snow must be damn hard there, so no problems biking on it.
US to expensive after the exchange rate.
Europe sounds expensive.

If anyone has any suggestions on biking out West -
good XCountry trails, good hostels to stay, etc...
I would appreciate to hear ...

Moab in Feb or March would be OK. They do get snow every now and then so you may want to check the weather patterns.

Ever ridden out in Arizona - Phoenix or Sedona for example? South Mountain area in Phoenix is a lot of fun and there's tons of riding around there. March weather there is about 20 C so its warm and dry and just gorgeous.

Do you want to fly or to drive? You can get to Moab in about 20 hours driving straight. You can get to Phoenix in about 30 hours. Its a helluva long drive but it'll be a fun road trip

You could get there much faster if you had an A6...

A South America tour I saw on OLN looked interested. One of the rides was had a HUGE vertical decent.

New Zealand would be nice if you want to cycle around and camp out.
