There's a pic on reuters.com showing the guy in action and it seriously does look alot like a weapon. I can imagine him poking it around a corner from a distance drawing fire. Also you have to realise these people choose to put themselfs in the line of fire. I don't think it's reasonable to demand that soldiers be given media training so they don't accidently shoot morons with cameras running around on the frontline. As much as I do not agree with America's foreign policies I don't think this was anything more than a horrible accident. Imagine being 18, in a foreign country, sent there to fight for some bullshit reason, under fire and living with the threat of constant RPG attacks...when you see someone pointing something that resembles an rpg from a distance which might possibly result in you and your friends being killed..what do you do? You react first, ask questions later. But then again I don't know the particulars of the event.

I dont support any part of this war either, but you have no idea how stressful it is on the front lines, whether it's for a good purpose or not. The media should not be on the front lines, this is what can happen.

I feel bad for the cameraman and his family. However he knew the risk when he left to go on the front lines. I don't feel the soldier(s) responsible should be prosecuted though.

draco rider, you made a mistake in your post... it was a television camera, not a photo camera. them things are those huge , shoulder mounted ones. could definately look like an RPG at even a moderate distance away.
