Just got this back on the weekend...

I kinda like the foamy look of the water, but the colors came out a lot better in other faster shots...

Very nice. I've always been a sucker for long exposures on water .

I want to get out to that waterfall deally that's near the Chief with a tripod and shoot half a roll.

To the best of my recolection that was 8 seconds...

I never write anything down though, so it may have been 10 :p

That's from a creek that crosses the Nahatlatch forest service road about 12km from Boston Bar... Sorry I don't know the creek name.

Nice shot eeyun. 8 seconds is a really long time if you were looking for the streaming water effect. Depending on the light, 1/2 second would have been plenty to get the effect and then the colours wouldn't be washed out. How do you feel about the lens flare?

It's called Shannon Falls. It's gorgeous. PM me if you are serious, I'll go and shoot some film with ya.

Thanks fergs. I have a couple 1/2 sec shots because I was told that would be reasonable speed to try, but they're on a roll I haven't developped yet. I think the ISO 800 film I was using was a little fast too (could be wrong though).

And as for the lens flare... I feel pissed off about it!

How can I avoid it? Just sheild the lens? Is that what a lens hood is is for?

Cheers

A polarizer would have killed that too methinks.

What would you need to do to take a pic of rain and capture the stillness of the rain? Like on some commercials?

I'm really not too sure. I think it needs to be a very hard rain for one, and then I think maybe a remote flash setup. Without flash, the rain doesn't show up, and with an on-camera flash (even with one that's on a cable so you can hold it a bit off to the side like mine) it still doesn't show up very well.

Hmmm. Have you seen that commercial where there in a parking lot and taking pictures of stuff and its like "beauty is everywhere" but in every pic the rain stops? I think it was a digi cam of some sort.....maybe just false advertising. Id love a camera like that....mines just an old *and i mean OLD* 35mm. I cant take action shots cuz if you move it like an inch you have to re-set the apature, and it takes awhile to focus, its really touchy.
