Which for the trails?
I'm in the market for a new bike, and while full suspension seems good, mabey a hardtail is better. I need something that can climb as well as descend. So how capable is a hardtail on technical descent trails? Or is holding out for a new VPS a better option? I don't race.

uhh hardtails are better for tech. more control they weigh less and are much easier to throw around. also they have a shorter wheelbase

I'd go for a dually. Hardtails are fun, they just pound you up too much. I understand absorbing the landings, but bumpy run ups and stuff are just sketchy on them sometimes. From sitting on a Team NS in a shop, it would probably be my last choice for an all around bike. It was plush, but with the monster T's it was like chopper mania. The Shore was a bit better though. I'd go for the Shore over a hardtail. It'll take the edge off stuff and is more forgiving so it lets you try new stuff that doen't have a perfect tranny.

save for the fs, it'll save your body in the long run. plus there faster on anything, (cept skinies) and boost your riding ability/confidence

If you buy a dually, it will be pretty good at everything except technical street.
If you buy a street hardtail it will be awsome for street and really good at dirt jumping, but it will be rough for trails, deadly for DH, and harsh on drops. If you buy a longer travel hardtail it will be quite good for everything, but it won't be awsome at anything, nor will it be really bad at anything. Hard call

LOL ![]() I think HTs are cool too, but you should buy a bike that will work well for you, not because of some "pride" talk

Brodie's are grand, but my LBS stopped selling them. I ride fast technical trails with smallish (under 6 ft.) drops, the odd ladders and some fast singletrack.
Zedbra, I sent you a PM about the Shore.
