Before I Forget: Skate Helmets vs. Bike Helmets

oh I have to ask this before I forget...

I noticed skate helmets have about 1/2 the protection of bike helmets (the bmx/dirt jumping style) so obviously the bike one would be better if you're always smashing your head on the ground but is a skate helmet still ok for riding bikes?

why would u choose 1/2 the protection for your head???

is your head/brain/life not worth a couple of hundred $s to you!!!

get a bike helmet...preferably a quality FF....

Skate helmets look really cool with goggles

If you really want to make them look cool, don't buckle them.

Yup, lotsa people wear skate lids. I like my regular mountain bike helmet if I'm not wearing FF. I mountain bike, so I wear mountain bike helmets. People that are wearing skate lids for more breathability... half lid MTB helmets offer way more.
Seems weird to me.

there are different helmets:

bucket style helmets for skateboarding have softer, and less, padding.

bucket style helmets for BMX and mountain biking have a harder foam and more of it, like what's found in a real mountain bike helmet or a fullface

The way I look at it is it's better to have a helmet than not have a helmet. So a skate lid is better than no lid at all.

Personally, I like the fit of moutain bike helmets. For a half top and full face lids, I wear Giro. They fit my melon well.

The main problem I've noticed with skate lids is that they don't fit properly half the time. The bounce all over the place. Might as well wear a construction hat if it's that poorly fitted.

If you are willing to shell out 2G's for a bike, what's a hundred more for some decent melon protection?
