03 or 04 slider
hey guys. I have a 2003 bighit comp with avalanche dhs rear shock with 6 inches of rear wheel travel. Well i actually dont have it yet, but i ordered it today. Any ways, i dont really have a whole lot of time till my circut starts, Is the sherman with 6" of travel going to handle fine with 6" in the back. Is the 2003 sherman sweet. Does it bottom alot. How good is it for freeride. thanks

yes order one ASAP....
the 6" sherman feels like more travel then it is... super progressive and buttery smooth... great for both DH/freeride... its TPC+ damping is the best there is... not to mention its a perfect match for your bike...

the size difference is for bikes with big headtubes....
how large is your headtube?? if its a tall one then get the Tall slider... if your frame uses a reg sized headtube a small Slider is gunna be fine... |

personally i would get the 04.
the back end of your bike will be so sweet, if u set it up right it will be super progresseive, needless to say it feel like much more than 6 inches of travel in the back. go witht eh 04 with spv. you have much more adjustments, more travel and no bob if you want, also you can make it extermely progressive if you want. the spy is not a joke, it is the same tech that revolutionized rear suspension. cross county bikes can get 6 inchs of rear travel now. it is amzaing. especcially for dh and big hits. |

if you get the six it might feel a little dwarfed in the back. if you do get it get some stiffer springs and try to get it a little more progressive. i have a sherman flick and i dont find it that progressive, even with the compression up all the way.

i dont know, measure your headtubes lenght from the bottom of the headset cup to the top of the cups, you will need a drop crown if you are over a certin length.
if you cant figure it out get the longer one and you can just slide it down the stachions if you want. |

Get a Large.
Every frame can fit a large, only very few can fit a small. That is what Dave Clinton at Answer told me. Unless your frame has a tiny head tube, the Large is what you need. Get the large, it will fit every frame out there.

getting a large fork is proly a safer bet, esp in the furutre if u decide to get a different frame or sell teh fork...
i know my Large Xvert carbon DH just barely fits my small BIGHIT...the tubes almost dotn go small enuf to fit... p.s. dont move teh lower crown on the stanction to make the fork fit...u can only move teh upper one...i also dotn think Manitou makes a drop crown... |

Why not move the lower crown? I would have had more than an inch and a half of stanchion had I not raised the lower crown. Nowhere in the manual does it say that you can't raise it.
